  • Savas T. Kyriakidis. Meet the Third District Congressional Candidates. 23 September 2010. "(I'm) Pro-Life. Three years ago on September 17th, I became a born again Christian. I think that probably goes to show you how much of a sense of humor God has sometimes because it was on Constitution Day that God called me to serve him. I think if you hold the principles of the bible as absolute, like I do, there is no question about it, you are fearfully, wonderfully, made. That goes for every single person, and we know that we were known before we were even concieved, and the days of our lives were in the plan book of God. To me, there is no question about that." (blip.tv)
  • Savas T. Kyriakidis. Issue Position: Pro Life. "As a Christian, I am Pro Life. Life is literally a gift from God. The Declaration of Independence boldy proclaims: "all men are created Equal that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, and that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness . . ." As a father, I know that in the birth of every child, there is the miraculous. I believe that the first duty of government is the protection of innocent human life. As your Congressman, I will do everything in my power to save unborn babies from abortion, including supporting a Human Life Amendment to the Constitution." (votesmart.org)
  • Savas T. Kyriakidis. Issue Position: No New Taxes or Tax Increases. "Long-term, we need to achieve passage of The Fair Tax which will abolish all federal income taxes -- individual and corporate, repeal capital gains taxes, repeal estate taxes (a.k.a, the death tax) and abolish the IRS. The Fair Tax is a national sales tax. I want to be very clear that I do not support adopting a sales tax in addition to the current system of income taxes. I support getting rid of the IRS and all income taxes, then replacing them with the national sales tax. Realizing that it may take years to see The Fair Tax become reality, I am agreeable to adopting a simple Flat-rate Income Tax." (votesmart.org)
  • Savas T. Kyriakidis. Issue Position: Economic Growth and Job Creation. "America's prosperity is being destroyed by poor economic policy devised over decades by both Democrats and Republicans in Washington. I am a business owner whose business and personal income have both been negatively impacted by the current economic recession. I understand all too well how drastic the situation really is for millions of American families and businesses. We must revive our economy and create jobs for American workers. The answer does not lie in Washington -- and certainly not with President Obama and the liberals on Capitol Hill whose pro-socialist policies are destroying our economy. The answer is the Free Enterprise System and our great capitalist system. We must get government out of the way so that the private sector, especially small businesses, can do what they do best -- grow the economy and create jobs. How can we do this?...* Rescind and recoup all unspent "stimulus" dollars." (votesmart.org)
  • Savas T. Kyriakidis. Issue Position: Fiscal Responsibility. "The American people have a strong message for the politicians in Washington: "Stop the outrageous federal spending!" As your Congressman, I will help deliver that message in no uncertain terms! Here is my plan to restore fiscal responsibility: * No more "stimulus plans." (votesmart.org)

  • Savas T. Kyriakidis. Issue Position: Tax and Kill Legislation. "I will vigorously oppose so-called "Cap and Trade" legislation -- the dream child of the Radical Environmental Movement. Its alleged goal is to save the world from looming disaster caused by "global warming." In fact, the purpose is to give the federal government more and more control over our economy and the way we live. And it is to enrich the owners of "green businesses" who are favored by the government. Carbon-based fuels such as oil, natural gas and coal account for about 85% of the energy consumed by American businesses and residences. The stated goal of this fraudulent legislation is to cap the amount of "greenhouse gases" that a company can emit to levels established by the federal government. To obtain extra allowances a company can trade with others that are willing to sell excess amounts. In truth Cap and Trade will further decimate the American economy. It will raise taxes -- always a bad thing! It will cause utility bills and the price of everything Americans consume to soar. Even before the 2008 election, Barack Obama admitted that this is true, admitting that his plan will cause electric bills to "necessarily skyrocket." This is very bad news for the American economy in general. It is oppressively bad news for the poor and the elderly. As your Congressman, I will fight to protect our citizens and our economy from the agenda of the radical environmentalists." (votesmart.org)
  • Savas T. Kyriakidis. Issue Position: Second Amendment. "The Second Amendment serves to guarantee all other constitutional rights and to protect Americans from the threat of tyranny. As your Congressman, I will uncompromisingly protect the Second Amendment right of all law-abiding American citizens to "keep and bear arms." (votesmart.org)
  • Savas T. Kyriakidis. Meet the Third District Congressional Candidates. 23 September 2010. "The federal government has no business being the healthcare business. That's the answer, it is none of their business." (blip.tv)
  • Savas T. Kyriakidis. Issue Position: Health Care. "ObamaCare should first be de-funded by Congress. Then it should be repealed. First and foremost, it is unconstitutional. Secondly, ObamaCare is not truly healthcare reform. It is a Trojan horse for massive government intrusion into the private sector of our economy and into our individual lives and those of our family members. If the federal government gains control over something as personal and private as our health, there will be no limit to what is next. Thirdly, ObamaCare is economically unsustainable. It will not save money for health care consumers; it will drive costs up. And it will cost American taxpayers trillions of dollars. It will bankrupt our nation. Fourthly, and very tragically, ObamaCare will result in a decline in the quality of health care in the United States, and eventually it will create the rationing of care. Why would any rational person want to surrender control of health care decision-making to government bureaucrats? We don't and we shouldn't. I will fight to kill ObamaCare. I will work for genuine reform through free market solutions that are patient-centered. Decisions about health care and about health insurance must always be controlled by patients along with their families and their doctors, period." (votesmart.org)
  • Savas T. Kyriakidis. Meet the Third District Congressional Candidates. 23 September 2010. "Illegal is illegal, period, end of story?it's a national security issue." (blip.tv)
  • Savas T. Kyriakidis. Meet the Third District Congressional Candidates. 23 September 2010. "Constitutional rights apply to Americans, period. That's where it starts, the laws of this country are designed for us as citizens and voters, they are not designed for those who come here illegally, end of story. No amnesty, we do not give any entitlements to anyone who is not American. It doesn't apply in this country, it doesn't apply on the battlefield, it doesn't apply in Guantanimo Bay. Constitutional rights belong to Americans, period. In terms of entitlements, no more. No amnesty. Be done with it. I've got one thing to say to those folks that are here who are illegal: illegal means illegal. Adios, it's time to go home." (blip.tv)
  • Savas T. Kyriakidis. Issue Position: Solving Illegal Immigration. "Because I believe in legal and responsible immigration, I am naturally opposed to "illegal immigration." I will not support Amnesty for illegal aliens. If people want to come to America, they should do so legally. If they want to remain here, they should desire to become truly American -- learning American history, American customs and ideals, learning English, and becoming American citizens. Here is my plan to solve the problem of illegal immigration: · Immediately secure our borders by all means necessary. · Vigorously enforce existing immigration law. · Protect American sovereignty. · No economic benefits to illegal aliens. · Impose serious fines on businesses that intentionally hire illegal aliens. · End "birthright citizenship." End the practice of automatically giving citizenship to babies born in the U.S.A. if the parents are illegal aliens. · Reform immigration policy to allow needed and qualified foreign workers to legally enter the country on "work permits" for specified periods of time."
